Last Update before Christmas

Nearly there now! only 2 puppies left; Gertie, who we're keeping, and Jack whose new owner is in Australia for Christmas. Things are now much calmer and we're looking forward to Christmas.

The children are so excited they look like they might just burst out of their skins at any moment!

Anyway, here's a picture of Jack for Matt in Australia and a couple of other pics just to show how big they are now (16lbs the porkers!!).

Meg's last day

I've not updated for a few days basically because we've not had time. The puppies have been taking up more and more of our time and are now quite hard work; it's like having a pack of 6 dogs in your kitchen (7 if you include Lucy).

Anyway, tomorrow is Meg's last day with the Legges and her first with Iris, which will be sad for us but happy for Iris.

Here's a picture of Henry with Patch the Bear and Meg.

Humans turn Puppy!

This is Megan who helped us to deliver the puppies.

Her dad (also dad of Wilf, Lucy's real boyfriend - but that's another story) Nick bought her round to our house in the early hours and she was a big help in the delivery process.

Thanks Megan and Nick!

And this is William (aged 8), who has been known to occasionally lapse into a bout of puppy type behaviour, making himself comfortable in Lucy's basket.

Mums thrown us out!

The pups have decided that they really like Lucy's bed, but she doesn't like to share and she won't kick them out, so we've bought them their own. I think that's Bob who hasn't quite got the hang of it!

Yesterday we started the second course of worming so by lunchtime tomorrow that'll all be sorted thank heavens.

Lucy has now started regurgitating her food for the puppies, which is even more disgusting than it sounds, which means she is ready to ease up on the milk front. Can't blame her when you see those teeth...........

New Names from the Kennel Club

We've just received the Kennel Club names for the puppies....

Jack is Jellicoe John
Minnie is Mygeeto Mos Minette
Hattie is Sekura Shmi Harriet
Gertie is Solar Sailer Gertrude
Meg is Musley Mockingbird Megan
Bob is Kamino Kenobi Robert

There are no typo's in there, and do you notice a slight Star Wars theme in some of the names? You can thank the boys for that!

The Gang of Six

They might look adorable and as though butter wouldn't melt in their mouths but sometimes it's as though we have been hit by a tornado!

3 or 4 times a day now they have a mad half hour and all hell breaks loose, then they collapse wherever they are and fall asleep; either that or they mob Lucy and force her out of her basket.

Quick, they've left the door open!

So, why do we need new oven gloves?

It wasn't me, honest!

Time for bed.

Christmas Fair plus Puppy Pics

Last night (Friday) was the annual Bourne Christmas fair when North St is closed off and the Christmas lights get switched on by Father Christmas. Henry (he's only 5) said it was the best day of his life, ahhhh! The weirdly dressed lot in the second picture are the Bourne Borderers (bit like Morris Dancers).

Anyway here's a couple of pics from that and some of the pups, who are now getting very big. In fact they are now too big for the fishing scales we were using, so according to an old and very inaccurate set of bathroom scales (they reckon I weigh 14.5 stone!) the pups are between 10 and 12 pounds in weight.

The first picture is Meg (hi Iris), then we have William with Meg, then a group photo of the Horde waking up and thinking of food and finally there is Jack who has just been bought by Matt. So all the puppies now have new homes to go to in about 2 weeks time.

Puppies in sunshine

Pictures to make you go ahhhh...

WMD Do Not Exist!

Cynophobia is the medical term for a fear of dogs - educational this isn't it?

Our neighbour Wendy suffers from it (Hi Wendy!).

So she says.

However, our intrepid photographer and main pictorial contributor, Maria, has uncovered evidence that WMD (Wendy's Misgivings on Dogs) is in fact a myth!

24 Hour Binge Drinking

Minnie soon realised that by taking full advantage of the 24 hour milk drinking that was now available, she was certain to lose her once slim and svelte figure.

When Puppies Attack - The Sequel!

This is William's (aged 8, favourite game Star Wars Battlefront II, favourite colour Red) chosen picture. This was taken when he was in a weakened state after being off school all day with a cold, and the puppies were able to push him to the floor and lick him until he squealed!

Poo City!

Take six puppies, their mothers milk and some solids and...well i'm sure you get the picture. If anybody in Bourne reads this please come round with all your old newspaper, or bring it up to the Rugby club on Sunday!

These latest pictures are chosen by Henry and William (Charlies round at Josephs).

This picture was chosen by Henry (aged 5, favorite game Star Wars Battlefront II, favorite colour Wookie Brown).

This is Gertie pushing her way into Lucy's basket.

When puppies attack!

I think that the puppies viewed Henry as a potential source of food!

Haircuts

Gertie and Bob were most impressed with William and Charlie's new haircuts!

Getting Bigger

The pups are now 4 weeks old and getting pretty big. Still feeding off Lucy, though she's getting less and less happy about this due to some very sharp little teeth (makes you wince when you see them feeding!), and getting 3 meals a day of softened dry food. Average weight is now about 5lb 8oz, initial birth weight was about 1lb, so they're now getting to be quite a handful.

All but one of the pups is now sold, but don't worry Jack someone out there will love you!

We've decided to keep Gertie, the yellow one because the children say that she looks very special (thanks for the comment Henry!)

Close up of Meg

This is Meg, the smallest of the litter and at the moment seems most like Lucy in temperament. You can just see the white stripe on her chest, hence the name Meg. One of the boys has a white stripe on his chest as well and he's called Jack. You'll only get the names if you're reasonably up on your music! Answers on a postcard.....

It's a dog's life..

Sleeping in the sun! We put the puppy cage up today (thanks Terry) but for some strange reason they prefer to sleep on the kitchen floor.

Last 2...

Last, but by no means least we have Minnie (top) and Meg (bottom).
